I know I've mentioned that mom and I hope off to "the pottery place" every once in a while. And I guess I haven't posted much about that lately. Well, this week is all about catching up, so here are some of the latest paint-your-own-pottery projects that I've done. Incidentally, Mom just finished an entire canister set, so she's now on to more fun things.
This is a plate that I did with four layers of black and some colored dots. You can't see it in the photo but the back is burn-your-eyes bright greenish yellow (note the dots around the edge...yeah, that color).
As you'll be seeing, I like dots. Now say it like Rainman, "I like dots". Good, now carry on.
Now this lilttle bad booy (same size and shape as the black one) took about six hours. And that's saying something considering I can't do anything for six hours straight.
Its gray, pink, black, mauve, and white. It kind of resembles the inside of my head....jumbled up and crazy. Oh and I know that some of the designs look like sperm. And embryos. Yeah, I don't have either of those in my head, but it just happened to come out looking that way. Must have been Mom pushing for grandkids again. Anyway.....
See? Lots of dots.
So instead of doing another triangle plate, I decided to do something useful. See Kids, my lappy top sits here at the kitchen island, and like a magnet, it draws all kinds of little junk to it. Hair clippies, pens, gum, spare change, the odd coupon, etc. And it looks like hell around my computer all the time. So I did this jar thingy in an attempt to wrangle all of that assorted junk into one place.
Holy closeup dots Batman!
Anyway, there ya have the most recent pottery projects. OK, minus one very unfortunate Asian-style plate with a gold Koi fish on it. Ugh, that thing is butt-freaking-ugly. I see a bright future for it in a mosaic or in a landfill or something.
(PS--each of these projects was $25-$40. Its a fairly inexpensive and fun thing to do. Most places even have little critters for kids to paint up. So if you're bored, just look up your nearest pottery paitning place and have at it. Its a good time really.)
